Barnes, Kirkwood and Woolf was established in 1924. Nigel Smith qualified as a chartered surveyor with BKW in 1987 and then spent the following ten years working in various chartered surveying practices. Having become a high ranking Chartered surveyor within his specialised property areas. He went back to his property roots and took over the practice he originally qualified with back in 1987, and became the sole principle of BKW in 1997.

The practice has since expanded and now has offices in London and Surrey. Nigel is also senior consultant to Wilson Hawkings who have three offices in North London and also consultant to numerous other practices throughout London and the home counties.
